One solution to addressing the plight of Black Males is to create our own jobs training programs and to integrate them into businesses that we startup and own. Specifically, job training programs should be in industry growth occupations such as construction and other skilled trade fields. Since it is apparent that other construction firms and developers are not going to train and/or hire us,, we must come to grips with this reality and do4self.
To ensure we start to get a bigger and better piece of the public-funded contracts, we need independent Black organizations that are willing to confront govt on the local level; specially whereas disparity in contracts and procurement with public funds are identified. Whether its a day for worldwide shows of support like hispanics did on immigration, we need to let the world know we are not asleep at the wheel. Only then can Black women, youth and elders begin to respect their own people again. Staying complacent is not an option.
Additionally, we need to stop pausing to see and hear what thinkers are saying on shows like the State of the Black Union. Enough has been said and it's time to organize city-by-city and state-by-state to a uniformed plan and approach. Each city should conduct a no-holds-barred townhall summit that will conclude in a specific form of action. Action that includes learning about and developing training programs, establishing entrepreneur courses and a plan for raising funds to provide loans, grants and support services when other groups and ethnicities won't do it, forming an understanding that local groups will work together for a unified cause and those that don't want to, then push on with those who do. No more waiting for those sitting on the fence and playing foot holder to those who give them crumbs for contributions.
There are other solutions I believe are worthy of consideration and focus on ideas surrounding youth entrepreneurship, but I look forward to input on these first.

The beginning steps to eliminate or at least lessen this ongoing dilemma affecting our men and boys is to:
1. Keep the presence of a 'successful' Black male role model, continously, in their lives;
2. Urge a commitment from religious organizations to provide a religion based 'backbone;'
3. Remind single mothers and grandmothers that the 'motherly' advice and ' words of wisdom' given to a child, youth or an adult are NEVER completely forgotten or repressed during a lifetime.
4. The utilization of the 'ARTS' whether it's through the literary, visual or performing arts---allows us to release hidden emotions, memories, talents, gifts and desires via self-expression.

we as Afrikans must come to grips and understand that our condition in America will take strategic planning to overcome. We must call all of the villagers to implement a 10-20-30-40-50 year plan and re-assess ourselves until our goals are attained. Remember, it took us in the diaspora over 400 years to sustain the condition not controlling any aspects of human activities.
Le's start with a program with our children between the age of 2years to 8 years old, lets's educate these children according to our Afrikan tradition. Let's teach them the right knowledge about self and our contributions we have made and are making for our posterity.
We must put aside whatever differences we have as individuals and rekindle the unity to overcome the spirit of Isfet.

Brothers,The time is at hand for Black men to unite, pool our resources, & establish the institutions we need to provide our people w/the basics of life: food, clothing, shelter, education/recreation, medical care & self-defense. Only when we establish the farms, factories, hospitals & schools we need to become a sovereign, self-sustaining community of African people here in the U.S. will we be on the road to true manhood. Let's unite so we can get free!!.

My solution is being looked at by 3 cities here in the Bay Area. I believe if they take my concept on we will reduce the violence in inner cites here within the first year. Also it's based on the thought we must seperate the sheep from the wolves. I also have tasks within my proposal to allow everyone involve but at arms lengths. This concept will bring immediate jobs, this concept will allow the "best non profits that deal youth" immediate funding and finally the business/media/sports community with support this because it brings them attention and they will benefit from helping our youth. It's the ultimate WIN WIN.
ITS CALLED "THE POWER FEST FOR YOUTH"
I want this work but I found it doews work by me speaking about it and having mayors looking at it because we need something quickly. While other great ideas can work for long haul. This concept can be attached to anything and disconnect from anything.
God Bless

I have an after-school class where I am going overboard on values & identity. Na im Akbar states that "the first function of education is to provide identity". Our children are lost because we as adults are lost. The missing piece is our re-connecting back to Afrika!

I think as Travis Smiley did 4 HIS BOOK, we should develop an agenda of needed solution with signatures, and presence it to the president and government. No change will come unless we UNITE AND SPEAK OUT ,COME FORWARD, and organize as we did in Jena Loiusianna. ans as the mexicam immigrants have. please add me to your mailing list.

I think we got to take a pause and research, look and deal with how we got to where we are today. And that must include our historical experience dating back thousands of years ago. Because just trying to fix or smooth over the current situation will only last for a short, temporary time.

The brutal fact is, we as Afrikan people were captured and turned into white people - complete with European names, cultures, ways of being; and such an horrific experience will and has produced all of the negatives and more in our community. And it will not stop. Have you not noticed? We must again - re-group, re-think, and re-do each and every piece of enslavement clothing that was placed upon our hearts, souls and minds. And we must start fresh, new and be willing to then give this thing called life an adventurous and holistic run.

For in order that our youth can be made whole again, they must be introduced to programs and opportunities that works to move them away from this culture of mis-education and mis-identification. We must give them an overview of the world that they have never seen before. And when they see this world and how it came to be, they like anyone, will begin to naturally re-adjust themselves.

It gonna be a hard sell, but it must be done, and now.
